Product Description

Fabric ICI Pilling and Snagging Tester

INTRODUCTION

Pilling is a fabric surface phenomenon characterized by little balls formed by entangled fibers clinging to the surface. These are formed during wearing or washing by the entanglement of the loose fibers, which protrude from the fabric surface, and development of these into spherical bundles anchored to the fabric by a few unbroken fibers. These give a very unsightly look to the garments. To determine the tendency to form pills, test specimens taken from the fabric sample are rubbed against each other under controlled conditions. The appearance of the test specimen, after rubbing for the specified period, is compared against standard rating photographs (Woven pilling photographs and knitted pilling photographs) for grading the fabric. DH-YG511-IV ICI Pilling and Snagging Tester is specially designed equipment to access resistance to pilling of any type of fabrics as per ICI pilling system.

Smith Barney Inc. are now able to offer a technically advanced machine that is easy to use and inexpensive to own.

USAGE

To determine the pilling and snagging resistance of textile fabrics.

TESTING STANDARDS

ISO 12945-1,BS 5811,IWSTM 152,NEXT 19,JIS L1076,M&S P18,M&S P21A,BS 8479

TEST PROCEDURE

The fabrics to be tested must be wound on special pipes of polyurethane (by means of the fitting kit) which are then placed into the cork panelled boxes. After setting the required rotation number (99999 max.), press the function key to start testing. Once the preset cycle is over, the pilling forming on the sample is evaluated and classified by comparison with the special set of standard photographs.

When using the kit for the snagging test, the fabrics deterioration caused by the entangling into pointed materials with known characteristics is simulated.

FAQ's of ICI Fabric Piling and Snagging Tester:

Q: How does the ICI Fabric Piling and Snagging Tester operate?

A: The tester functions using an electric power supply within the 110-215 volt range and 50-60 Hz frequency. It simulates wear by moving fabric samples against standardized abraders, providing a quantitative measure of piling and snagging resistance.

Q: What types of environments is this tester suitable for?

A: It is specifically designed for use in hospitals and laboratories, providing reliable fabric quality assessment under controlled conditions. Its durable construction also allows it to be used in demanding textile industry environments.

Q: When should you utilize this tester for fabric evaluation?

A: It should be used during research, development, and quality control phases where assessing a fabric's durability against piling and snagging is necessary. Regular testing ensures fabric compliance with industry standards.

Q: Where can the ICI Fabric Piling and Snagging Tester be sourced?

A: The tester is distributed, exported, manufactured, and supplied by reputable companies and traders in China, making it accessible globally through authorized channels.

Q: What is the process for conducting a test using this equipment?

A: Begin by securing fabric samples in the machine's chambers, then initiate the test sequence. The device moves the samples against abrasive surfaces, after which the degree of piling or snagging is visually evaluated and compared to benchmark standards.

Q: How does the hardness feature benefit fabric testing?

A: By incorporating a hardness component, the tester can simulate actual wear more precisely, reflecting how fabrics withstand real-life use and contributing to more dependable test outcomes.
